He was despised and rejected by others, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem Isaiah 53:3 New International Version

People are not always as they appear. Isaiah 53 paints a very real picture of the coming Christ and it is not a pretty one. The prophet speaks not only of the pain of his great personal sacrifice but also of other people’s reaction to the Messiah
